Baby It’s Cold Outside – Pinkfresh Studio “December Days” Blog Hop

Hey there and welcome to the Pinkfresh Studio “December Days” Blog Hop! 🙂 I’m sure you have seen lots of stunning projects with the pretty December Days collection already, and I hope I can inspire you some more for what you can do with this collection!
For my layout I decided to create some layers with some of my favourite papers. Because my photo was of me in a snowy, winter wonderland like scenery, I wanted to give the layout this soft feel and look of snowy hills. For that I used my Platinum 6 die-cutting machine and a die from my stash to create these cloud-like edges. To add to this soft feel, I also used some vellum (or tracing paper from the office supplies section) from my stash for one of the layers, as well as for some snowflakes that I also die cut with some dies from my stash.
To repeat the snowflake shape, I also used a stencil and some iridescent glaze in the upper left and lower right corner. This adds some nice shine and some more texture to this page. I love incorporating different materials and textures in my layouts, so I also included some of the puffy sticker trees in the lower left corner, some of the puffy stars across the page, and some silver twine behind my photo.

And you know me, I like my hidden journaling. Not because I have anything to hide or because it’s something I don’t want anyone to read, but rather because a) I didn’t feel like there was a space for my journaling left on this page and b) because I’m not a big fan of my handwriting and I’m always afraid it will mess up my page 😀 So again I used one of the tags from the collection’s ephemera pack to layer it behind my photo and write my journaling on it.
The only thing I pulled from a different collection were this blue alpha stickers from the Pinkfresh Studio “Boy’s Fort” line because they had just the perfect shade of blue and the perfect size for this layout.

I am quite happy with how this layout turned out and even though most of the white cardstock is covered with patterned papers, because of the very soft colours and white patterned papers, it still feels very clean and bright 🙂 I hope you like this layout!

Looks so cold and snowy. Love how you used the cloud die.
Love your puffy snow banks. Your hat is so fun with the word “cold” on it! That’s sort of a given up here in Canada in winter. Love all the patterns and layering. Great idea with the hidden journaling. I tend to type mine out on the computer, it’s so hard to read.
